Back in August, I first came across the concept "Scandinese" (a contraction of Scandinavian and Japanese), when Holly Becker from Decor8 wrote about the Scandinavian interior trends for A/W 2014. Being in Japan, I thought it was funny to look into the trend, as it actually makes a lot of sense. According to Holly, Scandinese is:
The ultimate in form meeting function – an excellent balance of both. Clean, clear, simple yet still manages to draw in the eye through bold geometric patterns and geometric shapes, interesting material combinations, etc. (Decor8)
I think, she hits the nail on the head with this description, and thinking about all the A/W news from many of the Danish interior design brands, I think this tendency is very apparent. Not least in the news from Menu, which you see above.
